the real backstory is I just brainstormed words to attach to beer. Beerlicious, Beerville, Beertopia, etc. Then I stumbled accross Beertastic and thought it worked well. It didnt come from urbandictionary, I didnt see that until well after making the site. So there is the story. And I guess now it is itegrated into the site. Damnit.

Japes yelled this on May 27 09 at 3:47 pmHey you hogs… I see you like challenges, May I recommend the “5-5-5 Challenge?” This was a little self-torture experiment that a friend of mine and I concocted (sp?) when we still hated ourselves. To complete the challenge you must (in one sitting) eat 5 White Castle Sliders, 5 Taco Bell tacos, and 5 Milwaukee’s Best! All may be consumed in any order (there is some strategy involved in this test). We didn’t set a time limit, but I think it took us 3 hours. We made a video documenting it. If you have the ability to convert Hi-8 to digital, you can have the tapes… (Spoiler alert: we burp alot).

Back in the day I worked with Andy Farley at WNUR, and I went by the name DJ DLong. I’ve been reading your blog for a while so I figured you’d be able to help me out.
I now live in Egypt, which if you’ve ever been is a lovely place but completely lacking in beer. I was considering doing a homebrew out of my apartment. I’ve never done it before, I know no chemistry, and have zero equipment. My questions are: 1) is there a simple, easy-to-make but really good homebrew recipe that you know of and could recommend, and 2) what do I need equipment-wise to make it? Also take into account that I’m here for 9 months. I dont know how that would factor in.
Thanks for any advice you can give, and keep up the great work on the blog. You guys take care.
