Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss
(12/20)
Andy, KFAZ and Adam on Dec 17.08

Wii bowling time. It’s a snow day here in Chicago so Kevin just brought whatever beer he could manage so Leine-ys it is. I mean…we’ve all had it once or twice, so I guess its time for a beertastic treatment? Hold tight.

Brewery Hometown: Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

Appearance: Pale pale pale golden yellow. Decent head. Did I mention its a light yellow? Very little color. Not much in the appearance realm.

Aroma: Some sweet tones but mostly it smells like [Andy:] “just another light beer at a frat party” Adam: “I think it smells sweeter in the bottle” (We were sampling from a glass). Where is the honey? Kevin beertapped Adam’s bottle and it barely rose.

Taste: Maybe sweet? But there isn’t anything besides a small hint of sweetness. Adam: “its your generic sweet beer” Kevin: “no hoppy or malty taste, nothing stands out except maybe a slight sweet/honey taste” Adam: “Solid, but…meh…” Andy “its a light beer…but I don’t think that’s what they’re trying to do” Adam: “Better than UFO!” It’s beer. Andy “I wouldn’t mind this while being COMPLETELY DISTRACTED AND SPILLING” Leaves your mouth feeling awkwardly sweet and awful. SIGH.

Alcohol: 4.9%

Drink one or all?: 1? How bad is the selection?

Cost: $7/12

Overall: Andy: 10/20, Adam: 12/20, Kevin: 13/20. Your average beer with a squirt of honey in it.

yea this is basically just a simple beer with a little extra sweetness. i kinda thought it was like miller lite that was brewed with a little honey. however it is easy to down and its got a decent ABV% to start out the evening, or keep it going…

See if you can get your hands on Dundee Honey Brown. I’m curious to try Leiney’s Honey Weiss with this Honey Brown at the same time. The brown is like a nice, pushing amber color but it also has the mellowing honey added in. Could be fun.
