Erdinger: Hefe-Weizen OKTOBERFEST
(18/20)
Brian and Adam on Sep 07.08

While looking over the seasonal brews at Budget liquors i saw a very funny shaped six pack in a box with finger holes to carry it. it was very tall and thin which meant the bottles inside had to be funny shaped. which leads to the regrettable part of this beer… its only 11.2 oz. but the sixteen year old drunk German girl with four giant beers in her hand make up for it.

Brewery Hometown: Ranz-Brombach-Strasse, Germany

Appearance: its a golden hefe-weizen with what i think is a slight slight orange-ish tint. foggy

and a decent head off the pour.

Aroma: Its a fruity sweet kind of smell i didn’t expect. not as dark or spicy as the recent autumn brews I’ve been trying lately but thats a nice change.

Taste:the first sip i thought was a little bold on the carbonation side but that subsided and reveiled a very smooth and flavorful beer. its 5.7% and i think i could pound this all night long. at some ways it reminds me of goose island matiltda with far less of a bold fruity taste. the after taste is basically just a sweetness that makes you keep wanting to drink it. i know creamy isn’t something you typically look at in a beer but it has a somewhat creamy feel to it in a very good way.

Alcohol: 5.7%

Drink one or all?: Drink em all bitches. if you can find it in more than a six pack in the states i would go ahead and get that.

Cost: $9.00/6 pack

Overall:18.25/20 not what i expected from an oktoberfest but i think from a german company its just broadened my ideas of what the season can bring. Adam gives it a 17.5/20 he says he likes it, its just some beers he likes more (still not a bad rate for a beer that he has favorites over)
